The outer edge of a woven fabric which is often more dense and may have holes present from manufacture. Often fabric line or manufacturer information may be printed in this edge or circles showing colors used in the print. This edge should be trimmed and not used as the stretch rate and density is not the same as the main fabric and may result in puckering or wavy seams.
