A Minnesota native, Sara is thrilled to be back in her home state after living many years on the east coast. She is happy to be quilting in Rochester for such a diverse and friendly community. Crafting and needle arts have been her true love since childhood. After years of collecting and using vintage sewing machines, she is now in the top 5 US collectors and may very well be the youngest serious collector to have accomplished such a feat.
Sara is Woodland’s founder, primary quilter, designer, and educator. She has studied under many popular sewing and quilting experts. Some of these experts include Barbara Cline, Debbie Lashbrook, Cindy Oravecz, and Paula Reid. She has also been trained by Handi-Quilter and Bernina educators in addition to attending Bernina course training for dealer associated software education. She helped to provide feedback to developers for enhancements of V7. Sara was trained directly by Loes and Theo van der Heijden of the Netherlands, the creators and developers of Art & Stitch Plus.
Sara’s work is now displayed in homes and public venues all over the world. She is ecstatic to have been the quilter of the winning Best of Show at Art Quilt Elements-2014, an international event. She has taken much joy in helping others win top ribbons and awards.
